Billing software for kirana and retail shops
Kirana and retail shop billing, on your phone
Last updated: 8 October 2026
Distiqo AI's Retailer OS is billing software for kirana, general and retail shops in India. Bill at the counter with the phone camera or a scanner, sell loose items by weight or rupee amount, keep customer credit (khata) with one-tap WhatsApp reminders, and run stock, purchases, accounts and GST in one system. When your distributors are on Distiqo AI, their bills become your stock in one tap.
1. What happens at the counter
| At the counter | What the Retailer OS does |
|---|---|
| Quick Bill | Scan with the phone camera, a USB scanner or a scale label; Cash, UPI, credit or part-payment; print a slip or save the basket as a quotation |
| Loose items | Sold by weight or rupee amount; stock kept per gram or millilitre |
| Customer credit (khata) | Credit only against a named customer; part-payments and advances; credit ageing; one-tap WhatsApp reminders from your own number with your UPI ID |
| Returns | Refund, store credit, adjust dues or exchange — each with its GST credit note |
| Offers | Your own offers applied at the counter and shown before payment |
2. Stock that keeps itself
- Distributor bills become stock in one tap when your distributor is on Distiqo AI; other suppliers' bills are uploaded or entered.
- Purchases, purchase challans, supplier payments and returns.
- Branches with stock per branch and transfers between them (Pro).
- Damages, expiry and stock checks; stock forecasts that know when an item ran out, with reorder suggestions (Pro).
- Area trends from several shops in your city — never one shop's figures (Pro).
3. Accounts and GST
- Every sale, purchase and payment posts to the books: ledgers, P&L and balance sheet.
- GST bills for registered shops, bills of supply for the rest, and GST returns from the same system.
- A day-close cash tally, staff logins with roles, and 35+ reports.
4. Connected to your distributors
On the Distiqo AI network a shop orders from its distributors' catalogues, sees their offers and its own ledger with each of them, records payments, and messages them — and their bills arrive as stock. A distributor never sees your customers, other suppliers or margins. What your distributor can see — and what it can't. Supplying cafes and restaurants? Bill them like any customer.
5. Questions
What is the best billing software for a kirana store?
A kirana store needs fast counter billing with barcodes and loose items, customer credit (khata) with reminders, stock that updates itself, and GST — on a phone. Distiqo AI's Retailer OS does all of that, and when your distributors are on Distiqo AI their bills become your stock in one tap.
Can I bill loose items like atta, dal and oil?
Yes. Loose items are sold by weight or by rupee amount — type 2 kg or ₹100 and the quantity is worked out. Stock is kept per gram or millilitre, and weighing-scale stickers scan in.
Does it work with a barcode scanner?
Yes — the phone camera, a USB scanner, or a weighing-scale label. EAN-13 barcodes and your own internal labels both work.
How does customer credit (udhaar) work?
A credit sale needs a named customer, so nothing goes on a walk-in. Part-payments and advances post against the customer, credit is aged, and a one-tap WhatsApp reminder goes from your own number with your UPI ID.
Does it handle GST for my shop?
Yes. GST bills for registered shops, bills of supply for unregistered and composition shops, full books, and GST returns from the same system.
Do I need a computer?
No. The Retailer OS runs in the browser on the phone you already have; a computer or a thermal printer is optional.
